Madagascar naiad
Naiad Madagascar, scientific name Najas madagascariensis. As the name implies, this species comes from the island of Madagascar, where it is found in well-lit, well-heated reservoirs.
Outwardly, it differs markedly from other related species of Naiads. In favorable conditions, it forms a high, strong, elastic (not fragile) stem, on which dark green, needle-shaped, hard leaves (up to 3 cm in length) are located, resembling pine needles, but with notches along the edges.
Naiad Madagascar grows very quickly and is considered a relatively unpretentious plant. Optimum growth conditions are achieved between 20 and 30°C, in soft to medium hard water, with moderate to bright light.
It can grow below the surface of the water, floating freely in a tuft or cluster, or rooting in nutrient soil. It grows quickly and requires regular pruning to avoid overgrowing the aquarium. With the help of pruning, reproduction is also carried out. A sprout divided in two will turn into two independent plants.
