Ludwigia oval pink
Ludwigia oval pink (Pink), scientific name Ludwigia ovalis “Pink”. Presumably, it is an ornamental variety of Ludwigia ovalis bred in one of the nurseries in China. In Europe, it has been available for purchase since 2012.
It differs from the parent plant in the color and shape of the leaves. The leaf blade is slightly elongated with a wavy edge. Leaflets are located on the stem closer to each other, one on each whorl. The color is bright from saturated red to purple, depending on the growing conditions and appears only under water. In the surface position, the leaves turn green.
Unlike many ornamental red aquarium plants, Ludwigia oval pink is relatively easy to maintain. To maintain the saturation of colors, it is necessary to provide a sufficient level of lighting, soft slightly acidic water and nutritious soil. A good choice would be a special soil rich in trace elements, in particular iron. The temperature regime is not significant. It is acceptable to grow in unheated (without heater) home aquariums.
Reproduction is carried out by cutting the upper part of the stem into cuttings and their subsequent planting in the ground.
