Ludwigia orange
Ludwigia orange, scientific name Ludwigia sp. “Atlantis”. Probably a hybrid between Ludwigia marsh and Ludwigia Repens. Appeared thanks to the efforts of the German breeder Thomas Kalibe in the nursery Atlantis in Altlandsberg, Germany.
It grows both under water and in the air on moist substrates. In a state immersed in water and favorable conditions, the leaves of the plant acquire beautiful yellow, orange or reddish hues with light yellow veins. The color depends on the intensity of the light. Leaves turn green when floated, but retain yellow veins.
Ludwigia orange is easy to maintain and makes low demands on the temperature regime, the hydrochemical composition of water, the level of illumination and the mineral composition of the soil. However, it will only show its best colors in warm, soft water with plenty of light.
Propagation occurs similarly to other stem plants by means of pruning. The stem is cut off approximately in the middle and the separated part can be planted in the ground. New sprouts will appear at the cut site.
