London shubunkin
London Shubunkin, English trade name London Shubunkin. It is the result of a selection between the common Goldfish and the short-tailed Shubunkin. A characteristic distinguishing feature of this species is the short fins and tail. Body color is spotted. Adults in favorable conditions, for example, in ponds, are able to grow up to 20 cm.
Obtaining this variety is quite simple and even novice aquarists can do it. She was probably bred independently by different breeders, but gained fame thanks to breeders from London, which is reflected in her name.
Maintenance and care
London shubunkin is not picky about its content. This is a relatively large and active fish, so optimal conditions are achieved in a spacious aquarium from several hundred liters or in an open pond. Decoration is arbitrary, provided that there is sufficient space for swimming. It does not tolerate high temperatures, which, among other things, lead to a deficiency of dissolved oxygen in the water, to which Goldfish are very sensitive. In aquariums, additional aeration is recommended.
The hydrochemical composition of water is not significant and can be in a wide range of pH and dGH values.
Nutrition also will not cause difficulties. Shubunkins accept most popular foods in dry, frozen and live form. A good choice would be products designed specifically for Goldfish from many manufacturers.
They have a peaceful disposition. Compatible with most other species of comparable size that can live in relatively cool water.
