limnophiles
Types of Aquarium Plants

limnophiles

Limnophiles are fairly large beautiful aquatic plants. Able to grow outside the water on wet substrates, but in this case the appearance will be noticeably different from the underwater form. Many species have graceful feathery leaves, and some are painted in bright red colors. Such features have predetermined success among professionals of natural aquascaping.

They make high demands on their growth, so they are not recommended for beginner aquarists. Most species need nutrient-rich soil, high levels of light, and regular pruning. If the sprouts grow above the surface of the water, they noticeably change their appearance, and not for the better – the decorative component of the plant is lost.

In nature, the natural habitat extends over vast areas from tropical Africa, along South and Southeast Asia and up to the northern regions of Australia. Currently, it is also found in both Americas, where it came from home aquariums.
