Can chinchillas have walnuts

Peanuts for rodents

Hazelnuts contain a significant amount of folic acid and vitamin E. They are necessary for the full working capacity of the animal’s body, strengthening muscle tissue and bones. It is not recommended to completely abandon it. You should offer chinchillas hazelnuts in a dose that does not damage the eared – ¼ of the kernel. It should be offered no more than once every 14 days.
Almonds for a snack
Despite the fact that some owners occasionally indulge their pets with this delicacy, veterinarians still insist on giving up almonds, as well as cedar fruits. Increased caloric content and percentage of fat content leads to numerous dysfunctions of the digestive organs, which are difficult to treat.
According to other experts, chinchilla almonds provide increased natural immune defenses and increased resistance to infections. Therefore, the owner is advised to consult a veterinarian, and if the rodent’s digestive organs are completely healthy, sometimes please the pet with a small amount.
Sweet cashews
Cashews provide the body of the animal with energy, so it can also act as a treat once every 2 weeks. Also, the high nutritional value of the nuclei contributes to the enrichment of systems and organs with useful substances.
Therefore, it is possible and necessary to pamper your pets with such “sweets”, but carefully following the instructions of specialists. Please note that some brands of chinchilla food already contain nuts, be sure to account for this amount.
