The Equestrian Federation of Canada Medicines Control Board has published a memo to athletes about what injections are allowed at tournaments, how long and by whom they should be administered.

In accordance with FEI rules, horses starting at an Event after 6 pm may be given intravenous injections before 10 am on the same day.

In other words:

  • if you start before 17:59, you don’t have the right give any injections to your horse that day;
  • if your performance starts at 18:00 or later – Injections with permitted substances must be made until 10 am on the same day.

The exception is drugs for intravenous rehydration therapy и antimicrobials (except Procaine Penicillin G). All of these substances can be used for injection. It must be performed by an experienced licensed veterinarian at least in 6 hours before starting work.

If you start at 14:00 pm, intravenous rehydration fluids and antimicrobials are available until 8:XNUMX am on the same day.
