Mom read the ad about the dog

The dog came to us with a difficult fate. With the first owners of Michael, I personally do not know. I only know that once they were given a puppy. Either people did not have the time and desire to raise a dog, or they were completely inexperienced dog lovers, but once on the Internet, on one of the private ad portals, the following appeared: “We are giving away a miniature pinscher puppy. Take someone, otherwise we will put him to sleep.

The announcement caught my mother’s eye (and she loves dogs very much), and Mike ended up in our family.

The dog, who was 7-8 months old at that time, looked very frightened, afraid of sudden movements. It was obvious that he had been beaten. There were many more behavioral problems.

Owner’s Observations: Miniature Pinschers, by their nature, cannot do without a person. They are loyal, gentle dogs that require a lot of attention.

Michael has a bad habit that we still can’t eradicate. When the dog is left alone at home, he pulls all the master’s things that he comes across into one heap, fits on them and sleeps. He believes, apparently, that in this way he becomes closer to the owner. If it works out, he pulls things out of the closet, takes them out of the washing machine … Sometimes, even in the car, when he is left alone for a while, he puts everything on the driver’s seat – right down to lighters and pens, lies down and waits for me.

Here is a feature of our boy. But we don’t even fight this habit of his anymore. It is easier for a dog to endure loneliness in this way. At the same time, he does not spoil things, but simply sleeps on them. We take it for what it is.

Long way home

Once in the house of his parents, Michael learned what love and affection are. He was pitied and pampered. But the problem remained the same: the dog had to be left alone for a long time. And I work at home. And my mother brought me a dog every morning before work so that I would not get bored. Picked up in the evening. As a child is taken to a kindergarten, so Michael was “thrown” to me.

This went on for about a month. Finally, everyone understood: it would be better if Michael settled with us. In addition, in a family with three children, there is almost always someone at home. And one dog will remain extremely rare. And by that time I was already thinking about getting a dog. And then Maikusha appears – such a cool, kind, playful, cheerful four-legged friend!

Now the dog is three years old, more than two years Michael lives with us. During this time, many of his behavioral problems were solved.

They did not turn to the help of cynologists, I worked with him myself. I have experience with dogs. Since childhood, there have been French and English bulldogs in the house. With one of his dogs, as a teenager, he attended training courses. The knowledge gained is still enough to raise a playful pinscher.

Moreover, Michael is a very smart and quick-witted dog. He obeys me unquestioningly. On the street we walk with him without a leash, he comes running “to the whistle”.

The miniature pinscher is a great companion  

My family and I lead an active lifestyle. In the summer we run, ride bicycles or roller skates, Michael is always there. In winter we go skiing. For a dog, it is important that all family members are in place. Runs, checks that no one is left behind and is not lost.

I sometimes go ahead a little faster, and my wife and children go behind. The dog does not let anyone fall behind. Runs from one to another, barking, pushing. Yes, and it makes me stop and wait for everyone to gather.

Michael – dog owner 

As I said, Michael is my dog. He himself considers me his master. Jealous of everyone. If a wife, for example, sits down or lies down next to me, he begins to suffer quietly: he howls and gently pokes her with his nose, pushes her away from me. The same is true with children. But at the same time, he does not allow himself any aggression: he does not snap, does not bite. Everything is peaceful, but he always keeps his distance.

But on the street, such manifestations of possessiveness sometimes cause problems. The dog is active, runs with pleasure, plays with other dogs. But if one of the four-legged brethren suddenly decides to approach me, then Mike aggressively drives away the “insolent one”. In his opinion, it is categorically impossible to approach other people’s dogs to me. He growls, rushes, can join a fight.

I usually go for a walk with Michael. Both in the morning and in the evening. Very rarely, when I go somewhere, one of the children walks with the dog. We take travel seriously. They are long lasting and active.

Sometimes I have to go to work for a day or two in another city. The dog feels quite calm in the family circle. But always looking forward to my return.

Michael was offended when he was not taken on vacation

Usually, if Michael stays at home for a few hours, then upon returning you are greeted by an unimaginable fountain of happiness and joy.

Owner’s Observations: The miniature pinscher is a small agile dog. He jumps very high for joy. The greatest happiness is meeting with the owner.

He loves to cuddle very much. It is not clear how he learned this, but he hugs for real, like a person. He wraps his two paws around his neck and only caress and pity him. You can hug endlessly.

Once we were on vacation for two weeks, left Michael with my grandfather, my dad. We returned – the dog did not even come up to us, he was so offended that they left him, did not take him with him.

But when he stays with his grandmother, then everything is all right. He loves her. Apparently, he remembers that she saved him, took him from a family where he felt bad. Grandmother for him is love, light in the window. 

Miracles of training

Michael follows all the basic commands. Knows where the right and left paws are. Recently learned to require food and water. If he wants to eat, he goes to the bowl and “jinks” on it with his paw, like a bell at the reception in a hotel. If there is no water, he demands it in the same way.

Nutritional features of the miniature pinscher

Michael’s diet is as follows: in the morning he eats dry food, and in the evening – porridge with boiled meat.

I do not specifically transfer the dog only to food. The stomach must perceive and process ordinary food. It is not uncommon for animals to pick up some food on the street from the ground. Unaccustomed to the dog can become ill. And so it is more likely that the body will cope.

Be sure to give bones to gnaw both ordinary (only not chicken) and gnaws. It is necessary for both teeth and digestion. This is how nature works, do not forget about it.

Like many dogs, Michael is allergic to chicken. Therefore, it is not in the diet in any form.

How do miniature pinschers get along with other animals?

We have two more parrots at home. Relations with the dog are calm. Michael doesn’t hunt them. Although, it happens, it will scare you when they fly. But there was never an attempt to catch.

Owner’s Observations: All that’s left of the hunting instincts is that Michael picks up the trail. When walking, he always has his nose in the ground. Can follow the trail indefinitely. But never brought any prey.

We walk with him almost all the time without a leash. Gets along great with other dogs on walks. Michael is not an aggressive dog. If he feels that a meeting with a relative may not end in the best way, he simply turns around and leaves.

Mom has cats at home. Michael’s relationship with the tailed is friendly, very even and calm. When he was taken away, the cats were already there. He knows them well. They can run after each other, but no one offends anyone. 

What health problems are typical miniature pinschers

Michael has been living with us for a little over two years. So far, there have been no serious health problems. Naturally, you need to watch your diet. After the dog once “stayed” with her grandmother, there were problems with digestion. We went to the clinic, it was dripped, after which we endured a long diet. And everything was restored.

Observations of the owner: The Miniature Pinscher is a strong dog, healthy. No problem. Of course, the health of the pet must be monitored. We pay more attention to walking, training.

Which owner is suitable for miniature pinscher

Miniature Pinschers need movement. These dogs are very active. We were lucky: we found each other. We have an active family, we love long walks outside the city. We always take Michael with us. In the summer, when we ride bicycles, he can run 20-25 km.

A phlegmatic person is definitely not suitable for such a breed. He won’t chase after him.

And I would like all tails to find their owners, so that both people and animals feel good and comfortable to be next to each other.
