If the cat wakes up at night
Cats love to sleep. They just sleep mostly during the day. Is it possible to fight with night concerts and how to win back a well-deserved rest?
The wild cousins of domestic cats are predominantly nocturnal, and echoes of this preference still live in our pets. In addition, cats often stay at home alone for the whole day and get enough sleep in an atmosphere of absolute peace. The owners come home late at night, go to bed, and go back to work in the morning. So, you see, cats have little chance of getting the attention due to them.
Many furry sly ones deliberately raise noise at night in order to get a reaction from the owner. It does not matter whether you scratch him behind the ear or put him out of the room. The main thing: attention is attracted, the goal is achieved. Therefore, you should not get up and go to the cat in response to her every night meow (unless she is sick), otherwise you will only convince the pet of the effectiveness of his strategy.
But before weaning a cat from an unpleasant habit, ask yourself, what is the reason for this behavior? It is very important to exclude health problems, because. nighttime restlessness can be associated with a serious ailment. If everything is in order with the health of the cat, most likely, the reason lies in the lack of attention or the individual behavioral characteristics of the pet.
The best way to stop your cat from making noise at night is to keep her active while you are awake. Do not wake your pet for games during the day: he needs a good sleep for good health.
Most cats are active not only at night, but also in the morning and evening. At this time, try to offer your pet a variety of games. Every cat has its own preferences. Look for options that will appeal to your furry. Someone likes balls, and someone likes toys on a fishing rod.
The material of the toy also matters: some cats like soft and fluffy toys, while others prefer feathered ones. Cats usually like to hunt moving objects, so try to find time to play with your pet. But if you and other family members sometimes do not have enough time, you can find special electronic toys that move on their own. Fortunately, modern pet stores offer a wide range of toys, and you can easily find the right ones for your pet.
In some cases, a second cat will help solve the problem. This measure has its pros and cons. On the one hand, pets will play and communicate with each other without disturbing the owners. On the other hand, to begin with, you will have to correctly adapt the pets to each other. Also, be prepared that cats can also play together mainly at night.
Another reason for cat night vigils may be hunger. Metabolism in cats is designed so that they eat often and in small portions. Then several options can help in solving the problem. You can shift the evening feeding of the cat to a later time or leave food (and always clean water) available at night. Another option would be an electronic feeder.
If, despite the measures taken, the cat still continues to be awake at night, think not about how to wean it from this, but about how to protect yourself from noise. Alternatively, closed bedroom doors can easily solve the problem.
Try to leave your pet special “night” toys that glow in the dark and make little to no noise. Or spread treats around the house for your cat to explore. Some cats easily put up with closed doors and do not disturb the owners, others scratch the jambs and cry plaintively outside the door. Outside the bedroom, you can install a play area and a cozy cat house where your pet will be happy to relax.
Take care of your pets, study their habits and habits, find your own approach. Let nothing interfere with your sleep!
