How to protect the Christmas tree from the cat and the cat from the Christmas tree?
Fortunately, not all cats are interested in the New Year’s beauty. Some people are too lazy to even come up and smell the spruce paws. But our conversation is about those who are not too lazy, but come up, sniff, taste and jump.
A cardinal, but boring solution to the problem is not to put up a Christmas tree at all.
A creative solution to the problem is to draw a Christmas tree on the wallpaper.
Crazy options: the tree is hung from the ceiling or placed in a cage.
But let’s get back to the classics of the genre – on the floor / table there is a Christmas tree in decorations.
Choosing a Christmas tree
Artificial is better than natural. Firstly, it is a pity to destroy the tree, and secondly, the number of people who want to chew artificial needles is an order of magnitude smaller. The small one is better than the big one. A tabletop Christmas tree will arouse less interest in a pet than a tree up to the ceiling.
We install a Christmas tree
Nothing will save you from jumping a six-kilogram carcass from the closet. So it’s safer to put the Christmas tree in a corner. You can somehow fix additionally – good.
Choosing toys
Everything is clear here. No glass and no rain.
Garlands
The answer to this question is unequivocal: if your animal shows interest in them, then a firm “no” to holiday illumination. It is better to prevent trouble than to say goodbye to a pet killed by an electric shock.
Additional life hacks from experienced cat owners: oranges can be laid out under the tree, and tangerines can be hung like toys. Most cats hate citrus fruits. It’s not bad to sprinkle the Christmas tree with a spray with the smell of lemon or orange.
The bottom of the tree trunk can be wrapped with foil – some cats have a negative attitude towards it.
First, set up the Christmas tree without toys. Let the animal get used to the new object in the room. And it is better to do decoration without a cat under your feet. Rustling papers, rolling balls – all these potential toys can bring the animal to a frenzy, and you will fall into this state after the pet, collecting fragments of balls and scraps of garlands. On tinsel and rain – a strict taboo. Every year on New Year’s Eve, veterinary clinics choke on the flood of cats that ate the rain. At best, what you eat will come out on its own. But in no case do not pull the strip of foil sticking out of the cat’s bottom. You will cut the animal’s intestines. Grab the cat and go to the clinic.
It is much worse if eating inedible goes unnoticed. Only surgery will save, but it may be too late. Better not risk it.
