How to Improve Core Stability for Riding
By working with riders, I help them better understand how their own stability and core strength can affect a horse’s movements. A strong core is fundamental to efficient riding, both in terms of the use of controls and the balance of your horse.
Doing a series of exercises regularly can help you build a strong core and make you a more effective rider.
If you are in good shape and do not have any diseases and contraindications, short workouts, designed for a few minutes, will give you an excellent effect.
1. Lie on your back and swing your legs bent at the knees towards your chest in small movements for 20 seconds.
2. Stay on your back and lift your legs up at a 90-degree angle to your body, then stretch your arms diagonally towards your legs, doing small stretching movements for 20 seconds.
3. Roll over onto your stomach and assume a “plank” position, your body should stretch out in a straight line, keep the emphasis on your elbows and toes. Hold the position for 30 seconds.
Do the exercises, gradually increasing the difficulty. To begin with, hold the position only as long as you are comfortable and comfortable. As you progress, repeat this sequence of exercises up to five times.
