How dogs show they miss their owners

If you’ve ever gone on a trip without your dog, then the most exciting part of coming home is the pet’s happiness that you’re back. However, a dog’s reaction to being reunited with his beloved owner can sometimes be unpredictable. Take a look at these ten fun ways dogs greet their owners after a long separation.

1. Super selfies

People love to show the world how happy they are to see someone they left behind after a long drive, and some dogs are happy to pose when reunited with them. Usually the reason for this is their desire to imitate you, but thanks to this, perfect photographs are obtained. Some dogs even have their own social media accounts where they share their selfies!

2. Waiting for her tummy to be scratched

What owner would not want to drop everything and rush to scratch the puppy’s belly the second he walks in the door? Many dogs will lie on the floor until their owner gives them the attention they deserve, while others like this…

3. Greeting face to face

The puppy on the left is obviously waiting for an explanation from his owner about his long absence (he really just wants his scent back). It doesn’t matter if your dog kisses you or asks you to scratch his stomach, time alone with your pet after a long trip is very important for both of you.

4. Bring you a toy

As you can imagine, dogs get very bored when their human companions are not at home. So don’t be surprised if your pet brings you his toys when you finally enter the house. Most likely, your dog is looking forward to playing with you sincerely now that you are back.

5. Absolute tomfoolery

Some dogs go completely crazy when they see their family and are simply unable to contain themselves. They will circle, bark and jump, squirm on their backs, and you just have to laugh until they calm down and believe that you are finally home.

6. Waiting at the window

A dog that is glad to see its owner may wait with wide eyes and a wagging tail at the window. Many of them distinguish the sound (or appearance) of your car from others, and rush to the window to demonstrate how happy they are when you return (best with some kind of treat).

7. Where have you been?

Do you have a puppy that sniffs you hard when you return from a trip? Dogs have over 300 million olfactory receptors, according to PBS, and they know when you’ve been around other animals or new surroundings. They just love to explore every new scent you bring with you.

8 Kissing Avalanche

Some dogs just can’t wait to say hello and shower you with a ton of kisses (and maybe even hugs) when you get back from a short trip. Pets love to show their unconditional love for their owners – what dog lover would turn down a wet nose on their face after a long drive?

9. Maybe hide and seek?

Although most dogs rush to meet their owners after a long separation with joyful barks, others prefer to hide and wait until their owners start looking for them. This doesn’t mean they haven’t missed you, so find them quickly and give them some attention as soon as you enter the house.

10. Nothing at all

“Hey buddy, I’m back!” Silence… If your dog keeps napping and doing absolutely nothing when you enter the house, it doesn’t mean he didn’t miss you. Some pets just wait to be approached and cuddled up next to them, while others get used to the separation over time and know they don’t have to put on a show to get the hugs they want.

Dogs definitely have unique ways of showing how much they missed you, and if you can capture one of those moments, it will certainly help you understand them better and remember the millions of reasons why you love your pet so much.
