Hottonia or Turcha marsh, scientific name Hottonia palustris. It comes from the temperate zone of Europe, sometimes found in Asia Minor. It grows along the banks of streams and rivers, in swamps. It is considered not so much an aquarium as a medicinal plant. In nature, it is on the verge of extinction and is listed in the Red Book in many European countries.

The plant has a massive stem from which complex “carved” leaves extend. bright green colors. Upon reaching the surface of the water, Hottonia forms beautiful inflorescences of white or lavender colors. It is unpretentious to conditions, not demanding on the composition of the soil, it is able to adapt to low temperatures, which allows it to be used not only in an aquarium, but also in open ponds. Dense thickets of this plant are a wonderful decoration, and also serve as an excellent shelter for fish fry.
