horse hairstyles
Undoubtedly, a beautifully styled and braided mane and neat tail will adorn any horse, regardless of its origin. And before the competition, this stage of horse preparation is a real ritual.
There are several types of hairstyles for horse manes, ranging from the simplest – tails – and ending with rather complex options. The choice of kuafur depends not only on your preferences, but also on the density of the mane itself.
Simple hairstyles include:
- Ponytails
- Pigtails
- Tails or pigtails intercepted by parallel white ribbons at the base of the mane and closer to the tips. The effect of two parallel white stripes on the mane is created.
Complex hairstyles that require more time and some dexterity include, perhaps:
- Mesh – when the same pigtails are interconnected in a mesh
- Rosettes – knobs, sometimes tied with white bandages, the most popular type of mane braid among athletes, as the horse’s neck looks very impressive.
How to make sockets
Rosettes are probably the most difficult and time-consuming weaving. However, if you understand some little tricks, then all other hairstyles will look very neat.
What you need for styling:
- Comb
- Wet brush or sponge
- Woolen or cotton thread (preferably the color of the mane)
- Hair bands
- A skein of white plaster
- Scissors
- Non-sharp needle with a large eye
Technology:
Comb the mane to one side and lightly dampen it with a sponge or wet brush.
Divide the mane into equal strands and fasten them with rubber bands at the roots to make ponytails.
Thread a thread about 20 – 25 centimeters long into a needle.
Always start at the top at the back of your head and work your way down to the withers. Remove the rubber band and slightly dampen the topmost strand.
Start weaving a pigtail, weaving a thread into it, while the needle should hang out at the bottom. Do not pull the braid tight at the base of the mane.
Braid the braid to the end and secure the end with an elastic band. In order for the rosette to be neat later, it is advisable not only to pull the tip of the pigtail with an elastic band, but to bend it inward under the elastic band, so that not a single hair sticks out.
So, you spun the thread into the pigtail and secured the tip. The thread with the needle sticks out of the pigtail. (See picture below).
Now you take a needle and thread it through the base of the pigtail from the inside, pull the end of the pigtail to its base so that it folds in half. Make a few stitches with the needle down to secure the two halves of the braid together.
If the mane is long, or if you want to do without a white winding, then bring out the needle five at the end of the resulting double pigtail and fold it in half again. Like last time, fold inward! Secure the resulting bump with a few stitches. If you initially tucked all the hair, then the result should be a neat rosette!
For stronger styling, you can use hairspray.
Some additional tips:
Please note that the mane should not be too long. Try to divide the mane into equal strands. Remember to wet each strand before braiding. You need to weave evenly with the same tension. Twist the pigtail until you get a small ball, after which you need to pass the needle several times around the ball and through its base. It is necessary that the ball becomes solid, only then can the thread be cut.
neat ponytails
In order for the tail to be neat, you can simply trim it. But in a braided form, it looks much prettier.
French braid
Wash the tail with conditioner a few days before the competition. Comb it so that there are no knots and glued strands.
Start weaving from above with a French pigtail or “spikelet”. For those who have forgotten how to do this, I remind you: take two strands on each side and put one on top of the other, then take the third strand on the opposite side and cross with the second, as shown in the figure.
Usually a French braid is 23 times the length of the entire tail. Secure the last strands with an elastic band. Sticking hairs can be removed with an ordinary hair gel.
A more aggressive and extravagant option is a plucked tail. For example, as in this photo.
