Guinea pig first aid kit
The participants of our forum have compiled a list of medicines that should be included in the first aid kit. So this is:
- Vinylin (Shostakovsky’s balm) – from crusts on the nose
- Furacilin and Tetracycline ointment – for the eyes
- IRIS drops – for eyes
- Neostomazan and Frontline – from parasites
- Solcoseryl ophthalmic gel (human preparation) – for eye injuries
- Solcoseryl dental paste (human preparation) – for healing the oral mucosa
- Zelenka, iodine or hydrogen peroxide – from “combat” wounds
- Levomikol – from wounds
- Panthenol spray (human drug) – treats skin damage, helps a lot
- Powder Tsamaks for ears, paws and body (veterinary drug) – pour on wounds
- Bifitrilak (vet. drug) – to normalize the work of the gastrointestinal tract
- Vaseline oil – for constipation (If there is no stool for a long time, you can pour a little (1-2 ml) of vaseline oil through the spitz. Attention: it is vaseline, vegetable or castor oil that is simply dangerous!)
- activated charcoal for diarrhea
- Smekta – from pride
- Streptocide – from the common cold
- Vitamin C (ascorbic) + glucose tablets – for all occasions
- Enterocat – vet. drug for the prevention and treatment of acute intestinal diseases, various poisonings, food and drug allergies
- Nizoral – antifungal shampoo (“Nizoral” 1 time per week or “Betadine” 1-2 times a day)
- Cloritmazol, fungin (human drug) – antifungal
- Gamavit – with toxicosis, with infectious diseases (carnivorous plague, enteritis, hepatitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, etc.), accompanied by exhaustion, dehydration (sold in veterinary pharmacies). Dosage: 0,2-0,3 ml per 1 kg (2-3 times a day), for prevention 0,1-0,15 ml per 1 kg twice a week for a month.
- Immunostimulator (Immunofan, for example), especially (!!!) if you have a pregnant mumps
- Ivomek (vet. preparation) — from demodicosis
- Gentamycin sulfate 4%
- Maksidin, fosprenil – antiviral drugs
- Emicidin
- Ear drops Anadin and Tsipam (veterinary drug) – against otitis media and ectoparasites

- Calcium
- Syringes of 5 ml with and without needles – feed the pig if necessary (without needles), for injections (with needles)
- Scissors – for processing claws
