Guinea broadleaf limnophila
Guinean broadleaf Limnophila, scientific name Limnophila sp. Guinea Broad Leaf. The plant is native to equatorial West Africa. It first appeared in aquariums in the USA in 2008, from where it quickly spread throughout Europe.
Able to grow both under water and in the air on wet substrates. Depending on the place of growth, the leaves differ markedly in shape. Under water, the Guinean broad-leaved Limnophila forms graceful leaves, divided into several small fragments, which are evenly spaced along the entire height of the stem. In the air, the leaves are somewhat reminiscent of celery.
For normal growth, it is necessary to provide nutritious soil. It is advisable to use special aquarium soils. The lack of microelements (iron, fluorine, potassium) leads to slower growth and death of leaves in the lower part. In favorable conditions, the plant acquires a magnificent form with numerous shoots.
When designing an aquarium, this plant should be placed in the central well-lit part, and not against the background, where most Limnophila are usually placed. With pruning, you can form beautiful hills.
