golden fish
Various breeding varieties of Chinese silver carp are called goldfish. Currently, there are more than 120 species that look very different from their predecessor. Their history began several hundred years ago; there are references in Chinese chronicles dating back to the beginning of the 1st century AD. Initially, they were available exclusively to emperors and noble nobles; they adorned palace ponds and lakes.
With the beginning of the New Age (17-18 centuries), when Europeans began to actively colonize Asia, the fashion for such outlandish fish spread to Europe. However, only very rich people could afford Goldfish, but over time, as the aquarium trade developed, the cost fell, and glass tanks made it possible to keep them at home.
Goldfish are considered to be among the hardiest freshwater fish, undemanding to eat and compatible with most other peaceful species. The only important condition for maintenance is oxygen-rich water, so an effective aeration system is a must!
