Gastromison ocellatus

Gastromyzon ocellatus, scientific name Gastromyzon ocellatus, belongs to the family Balitoridae (River Loaches). Endemic to the island of Borneo, found only in the Sungai River basin, which flows through the Malaysian state of Sarawak, which is northwest islands.

The Latin word ocellatus in the name of the fish is translated as “eye”. In this case, it is not the organs of vision that are meant, but the cream marks on the sides. Body coloration taupe and light pattern. A characteristic feature of the species is a pink caudal fin with black streaks. Adult individuals reach a length of only 4.5 cm – this is the length of females, males are somewhat smaller.
