Examining the horse and cleaning it before riding
Putting on a bridle, you should check the condition of the horse. Look into the feeder and make sure it is empty: the food eaten is one of the signs of the horse’s good condition.
Standing to the left of the horse, facing it, inspect the withers, back, left side and chest – especially the places where various parts of the saddle fit to the body of the animal.
A horse can be considered ready for work if it is healthy and clean. Dirt, pieces of hay and sawdust on the body of an animal can lead to mechanical damage to its skin during riding.
If the horse is lying down, then brush off the remnants of the bedding from its body with a brush or cloth and carefully wipe the back of the dust. Also clean the mane and tail from dirt, straw and sawdust.
To inspect the right side, go around the horse from the side of the head, holding the reins with your right hand. Checking the readiness of the horse to ride ends with an inspection and cleaning of the hooves.

It seems to me that if the horse seems “clean” you still need to clean it. Answer

you can also use a halter, but just a bridle for beginners, with the help of it the horse is easier to turn if it starts to go somewhere Answer
