Echinodorus small-flowered
Echinodorus small-flowered, trade name Echinodorus peruensis, scientific name Echinodorus grisebachii “Parviflorus”. The plant presented for sale is a selection form and is somewhat different from those found in nature in the upper Amazon basin in Peru and Bolivia (South America).
Other closely related varieties popular in the hobby are Echinodorus Amazoniscus and Echinodorus Blehera. Outwardly, they are similar, they have elongated lanceolate green leaves on a short petiole, collected in a rosette. In young leaves, the veins are red-brown, as they grow, dark shades disappear. The bush grows up to 30 cm and up to 50 cm wide. Close-growing low plants may be in its shade. Upon reaching the surface, an arrow with small flowers may form.
Considered an easy plant to keep. Given its size, it is not suitable for small tanks. Echinodorus small-flowered adapts perfectly to a wide range of hydrochemical values, preferring high or medium light levels, warm water and nutritious soil. Usually, fertilization is not required if the aquarium is inhabited by fish – a natural source of minerals.
