Dog vs wolf: who will win between them, selection of fighting breeds
Disputes of biologists about the origin of the dog do not subside. When and how did the first dog appear, and whether wolves are the progenitors of dogs or are they assigned the place of an offshoot of the canine population. All these questions are subjects of scientific disputes. A practical showdown between a dog and a wolf takes place on the hunt or in the ring. But in both cases, the conditions are unequal, since the besieged wolf is killed by several dogs and hunters, and the wolf in the aviary is already deprived of freedom and exhausted by captivity.
Wolves as a species
Nature is wise and the strongest specimen survives in the wild in order to give healthy offspring. Therefore, in nature wolves are predators and cleaners. They do not feed on carrion like jackals. The purpose of the beast is to get a weakened animal for food. At one time, a predator can eat 10 kilograms of meat.
The whole nature of the beast is such that it does not fight, but kills. But he will not kill when he is full, there is simply no need. Therefore, the wolf’s habit of leaving the dog in the forest is connected precisely with the senselessness of the murder at the moment. At another time, the same dog that met on the way of a starving predator will become his food. Surely it will, if it is not a feral dog, accustomed to earning its own living.
Population Varieties
There are many varieties of wolves. Scientists believe that, depending on the living conditions and according to their task of survival and reproduction, 25 subspecies of various populations of these predators are distinguished:
- Indian;
- European;
- American;
- Siberian.
They differ in their size and external data. Thus, the largest and most massive animals are the American and Siberian populations. It is possible that this is one flock, once separated by the sea.
Indian wolves weigh on average 15 – 20 kg. This is due to the fact that they have an accelerated cycle of maturation and reproduction. In a hot climate, it is necessary to quickly pass the tender age and the diseases associated with it. Here, natural selection has created small, quickly maturing and giving numerous offspring wolves. However, their wolf grip corresponds to the name.
In addition, scientists believe that up to 40% of the world’s wolf populations are offspring from the mother of the she-wolf and the father of the male. With each next generation the signs of the dog are getting smaller and they are invisible unless genetic analysis is done. But the progenitor, the male father, was one of the best individuals of the dog tribe and was not inferior to the predator in strength. The offspring from him was strong.
Forces and now the she-wolf to bring offspring from crossing with a dog population decline. Sometimes single individuals remain in the region. The instinct to procreate pushes the she-wolf to the dog from another tribe. However, whatever the origin of the wolf, he was raised by a wolf pack. Raised by a she-wolf, he inherited the qualities of a predator and a killer and will always be against a pet.
Fighting and hunting dogs
When breeding fighting breeds, selection work is carried out in the direction of consolidating useful properties in the fight:
- aggressiveness;
- endurance;
- developed muscles and chest;
- power of the jaw apparatus.
The maintenance of such individuals should take place in special conditions, the training should be tough and the owner should dominate. Such Breeds not for home keepingHowever, it is not customary to talk about their danger. A law should be passed against the keeping of such breeds in public places. Therefore, there are wild accidents with torn children and breeders. These breeds include bull terriers, alabais, pit bulls and similar dogs.
Of the large hunting dogs, only the greyhound has the same motivation as the forest robber. For her, everything that is not at home, not on its territory, is a game. And the game is supposed to be pursued and killed. At the same time, she runs faster than a wolf and in the field she can catch up with him. But in the battle of the dog against the wolf of these two individuals, it is not known who will win. If the weight categories are equal, then the wild predator has more chances to win. He obtains food daily by killing and has accumulated many tricks on how to topple an opponent and deliver a killing blow. The greyhound trains on the bases and her killing skills do not always meet the requirements of the moment.
Fighting dogs pit bulls have a death grip. With equal weight and in an aviary, the dog will win the battle against the wolf. But in nature, the wolf still needs to be caught up and the dexterity of a free predator is incomparable with that of a dog. However, if there are several dogs, then the gray one will not leave.
Any battle in the forehead against the wolf of a fighting, hunting and shepherd dog is deadly for her. Therefore, even large shepherd dogs in the habitats of wolves do not graze the flock alone. The natural qualities of a wolf are such that in an equal battle he will become a winner if he kills an opponent and there is no alternative. He does not fight, but kills and saves his life.
Therefore, the owners of fighting dogs should carefully weigh the chances of winning. You can be left without your dog in a one-on-one fight against a predator. At the same time, pitting an animal against a flock will be, pure water, murder.

Selection continues
To obtain offspring of dogs with wolf qualities, mating with a captive she-wolf and a male is used. Varieties of such breeds already exist. Natural properties are further fixed by selective selection. In Russia this hybrid includes the breed being bred, but she has not yet passed all the steps to receive recognition of the breed as such. So selection continues both in nature and at the will of man. And who will win in a fair fight of a dog against a wolf in the future is unknown.
