Dog Repeller
An attack by stray dogs on a person is a life-threatening situation. Most often this happens outside the city, although for residents of the metropolis this situation is already becoming ordinary. In search of food, stray dogs come closer to people. It is not always possible to protect yourself from the attack of stray or aggressive domestic dogs, and for this, manufacturers have come up with special devices – dog repellers.
What is a dog repeller
The most common type of dog repeller is ultrasonic. It is a portable device with a button that, when pressed, sends a powerful ultrasonic signal towards an aggressive animal. When the repeller is turned on, the dog begins to keep a distance from the person or runs away. There are also stationary ultrasonic repellers with motion sensors to protect personal plots from the visits of neighbor dogs.
An ultrasonic repeller is considered the most powerful among other ways to deal with dogs:
- it is safe for the animal, as it does not harm either the dog or those who are nearby;
- the repeller has a 100% effect and acts only on the aggressor;
- it is compact and resembles a keychain in shape;
- it has a powerful directional radiation that affects animals at a distance of 6-15 meters;
- some devices are equipped with a powerful LED: a bright beam of light is directed at stray and wild dogs and scares them away.
In this case, it is not recommended to point the device at dogs that do not show aggression. A stunned dog can get angry pretty quickly. It is also important to remember that ultrasonic repellers do not work on deaf dogs.
Types of repellers
In addition to the ultrasonic repeller, you can use aerosol and electric.
- An aerosol repeller is a gas canister with a limited area of damage. It does not work against the wind and is not effective enough against an aggressive dog.
- An electric repeller resembles a stun gun, but with a shorter range. Its electric charge is painful enough for the dog and can make it even more angry, so it is not recommended to use it on the hit. Experts advise releasing a discharge into the air: an ozone smell will appear from it, scaring away dogs no less than sudden pain.
Other ways to scare dogs off your yard
To prevent other people’s dogs from approaching the site, you can use several more ways to scare them away. These include:
- a fishing line with rattles stretched over the ground;
- water sprinkler with motion sensor.
In life, different situations can occur. But if you properly prepare for a meeting with an aggressive animal, you can avoid many problems.
