Dog breeds that need winter clothes
How do you know if your pet needs warm clothes? Evaluate several factors: the size of the dog, the amount and length of its coat, as well as the conditions in which your dog is used to living. The general rules are: small dogs get cold faster; hairless and short-haired dogs need clothing; Pets living in apartments shed more often, so they also freeze faster than dogs living in aviaries.
In general, all dogs that need winter clothing can be divided into three broad categories:
Small decorative breeds – they usually have a small muscle mass and no undercoat at all, so they need clothes in the fall;
Short-haired breeds, especially greyhounds – their wool does not warm them, so they need to be insulated;
Dog breeds with short legs – due to the anatomical features, long walks in the cold season are contraindicated for such dogs, so they cannot do without clothes either.
Now let’s look at specific breeds of dogs that are more likely to get cold in the winter without clothes:
Chihuahua
Russian toy terrier
Chinese Crested
Yorkshire Terrier
Greyhound
Azawakh
