Food for allergy sufferers

Here is an important note to make: hypoallergenic diet can not serve as a salvation from allergies. Their task is to reduce the likelihood of its development or exacerbation.

Generally speaking, an allergy is a painful reaction of the body to one or another component of the feed. In other words, the problem is not in the quality of diets, but in the characteristics of a particular animal. To minimize it, manufacturers exclude certain components from the feed (in particular, chicken meat, eggs, milk, and some cereals). An allergic pet is shown to eat an appropriate diet throughout his life.

In fairness, it must be said that food allergies in cats occur quite rarely – in about 10% of cases. Much more often, the perturbation of the immune system is caused by flea bites. If the pet behaves restlessly, itches with sudden movements, bites into the skin, it is necessary to check it for the presence of parasites. To do this, you can put the cat on a clean sheet of paper and comb it, you can also push the hair apart with a comb in several places and examine the skin – small black-brown dots (flea feces) will indicate the presence of parasites. If fleas are not found, and the allergy persists, then you can experiment with food.

But to identify the true causes of allergies, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian.

Feed for castrates

This target audience of dietary food consumers is very extensive – over a third of the entire population of domestic cats in Russia are sterilized. And in cities, their share reaches 70-80%. In order for the quality of life of such pets to remain at a high level, they should be fed with the right diets.

Feed for this group differ in that they have less fat and calories. This helps a calm and not too mobile animal to stay in shape without becoming a victim of obesity.

The dietary feed contains a special balance of minerals: the amount of magnesium, calcium and phosphorus is reduced, which is important for the prevention of urolithiasis.

Cats are generally predisposed to this disease, and castrates are at risk.

However, you can feed a sterilized pet with regular adult cat food. It is just as useful for the animal as a special diet. It’s just that the latter takes into account in more detail the peculiarities of the metabolism of a neutered cat.
