Description
Small graceful fish, adults reach only 4 cm in length, and females are noticeably larger than males. The main feature of the body pattern are two parallel horizontal stripes stretching along the body. Depending on the region of origin, the color varies from blue to yellowish.
Food
They are unpretentious in food, gladly accept all types of dry, frozen and live food. A combination of different species is the most preferred option, in this case the fish show their best color. Feed 2-3 times a day in the amount eaten in 5 minutes, remove leftovers in a timely manner to prevent water pollution.
Maintenance and care, arrangement of the aquarium
A small flock of fish will require a tank of 80 liters, designed in the form of a section of a mountain river. The substrate is dark gravel with some large boulders. Various snags, branches and / or tree roots are fixed in the ground, creating natural shelters. Planted aquatic plants of hardy varieties that can successfully grow in a moderate current.
Like any representative of flowing water bodies, Danio Kerry is intolerant of water pollution, so the placement of a productive filtration system is crucial, in addition, the filter allows for internal flow, which favorably affects the tone of the fish. Other recommended equipment consists of a heater, aerator, and lighting fixtures. In order to avoid accidental jumping of fish, the aquarium should be equipped with a lid.
Maintenance is reduced to a weekly replacement of part of the water (15–20% of the volume) with fresh water and periodic cleaning of the soil from waste.
Behavior and Compatibility
Schooling peace-loving fish, prefers to stay in a group of 8-10 individuals. With a smaller number, they become shy and lose their color saturation. To maintain their shape, males need to compete among themselves for the attention of females, and they can do this only by increasing the brightness of colors. Compatible with many popular aquarium fish of similar size and temperament such as cyprinids, characins, viviparous, etc.
Breeding / breeding
They belong to spawning species, females scatter eggs in the water column, and males fertilize it, then it is left to itself. In the conditions of a common aquarium, the survival of fry will be low, since adult fish tend to eat their own offspring. The chances will increase significantly if you use a separate tank – a spawning aquarium.
Breeding and raising fry is not much of a hassle and is accessible even to a novice aquarist.

Fish diseases
A balanced diet and suitable living conditions are the best guarantee against the occurrence of diseases in freshwater fish, so if the first symptoms of an illness appear (discoloration, behavior), the first thing to do is check the condition and quality of the water, if necessary, return all values to normal, and only then do treatment.
