Types of Aquarium Plants

Cyperus Helfera

Cyperus helferi, scientific name Cyperus helferi. In nature, it is found in swampy reservoirs with stagnant or slowly flowing water. The Cyperus genus includes more than 900 species, among which you can find popular indoor plants, as well as the well-known Papyrus – it was from it that paper of the same name was made in ancient Egypt.

Cyperus Helfera has long narrow leaves growing from a single center – a rosette. Each bush is able to form up to 50 leaves. The root system is weak and unable to withstand strong currents or attempts by large fish to pull out the plant. In favorable conditions, new shoots regularly appear from the base of the rosette. They can be painlessly cut off and planted in the right place.

The plant prefers bright light and relatively cool water no higher than 25°C, although it can grow at higher temperatures. It is recommended to use nutrient soil rich in nitrates, phosphates, potassium. In a balanced aquarium system, the necessary micronutrients are usually obtained naturally from the life of the fish.
