Cryptocoryne gudoro
Cryptocoryne hudoroi, scientific name Cryptocoryne hudoroi. The plant is native to Southeast Asia from the southern tip of the island of Borneo. It grows along the banks of fast-flowing rivers, forming dense clusters. The water level is not stable, so in some periods it remains in the air in wet, dirty soil. It is found only in a few regions that are characterized by high mineralization of water due to the abundance of limestone rocks. It has been used in the aquarium hobby since the 1990s, and is considered easy to care for, but still not commonly found in hobby home aquaria.
The plant has narrow oval leaves of dark green, brown color with an uneven surface, dotted with numerous “pits”. According to the structure of the leaf blade, it resembles such closely related species as Cryptocoryne usteriana and Cryptocoryne aponogetifolia, but its leaves are somewhat smaller, from which the bush grows up to 20–50 cm.
Cryptocoryne gudoro is able to grow both in aquariums completely submerged in water and in the humid environment of paludariums. It is not demanding on growth conditions and will not cause much trouble to the aquarist. It is enough to provide warm soft water (high dGH values uXNUMXbuXNUMXbare acceptable), plant in nutrient soil and periodically remove dying or rotting leaves.
