Corydoras Flagtail
Flag-tailed Corydoras or Robin Catfish (Robin Corydoras), scientific name Corydoras robineae, belongs to the Callichthyidae family. It comes from the vast basin of the Rio Negro (Spanish and port. Rio Negro) – the largest left tributary of the Amazon. It lives close to the coast in regions with a slow current and backwaters of the main channel, as well as in tributaries, streams and lakes formed as a result of flooding of forest areas. When kept in a home aquarium, they need a soft sandy substrate with thickets of plants and oxygen-rich water.
Description
Adults reach a length of about 7 cm. The body pattern contains horizontal stripes, most noticeable on the tail. There are dark spots on the head. The main coloration consists of a combination of white and dark colors, the abdomen is predominantly light. Sexual dimorphism is weakly expressed, males and females are practically indistinguishable.
