Corydoras tukano, scientific name Corydoras tukano, belongs to the family Callichthyidae (Shell Catfish). Catfish is named after the Indian people of the Tucano group, living in the jungle on the border of Colombia and Brazil along the Rio Negro and Japura rivers.

Habitat
Catfish are native to South America. They inhabit tributaries in the upper reaches of the Rio Negro basin in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. They live in shallow parts of rivers with a calm current.
Description
Catfish has been known to science since the 1960s. However, for a long time it was considered a variety of Reynolds Corydoras, since it has a similar body pattern and lives in the same region. As an independent species, the fish was described only in 2003.
Adult individuals reach a length of about 4 cm. Catfish has a strong stocky body, covered with rows of bone plates. The first rays of the fins have changed into sharp spikes.
The coloration is light with rows of three black vertical flats passing alternately over the head, on the body below the dorsal fin and at the base of the tail.

Peace-loving calm fish that prefers to be in the company of relatives. Compatible with many other species of comparable size and temperament.
