Corridoras Schwartza
Schwartz’s Corydoras or Cory Schwartz’s Catfish, scientific name Corydoras schwartzi, belongs to the Callichthyidae family. It comes from the limited basin of the Purus River (port. Rio Purus), which is one of the many tributaries of the Amazon (South America). It lives in small rivers and streams with sandy banks, as well as in flooded areas of the rainforest.
Description
Adults reach a length of about 7 cm. The color is light with several horizontal dark stripes, in turn consisting of spots. The dots continue on the transparent fins and tail. On the head, a wide oblique strip passes through the eyes, somewhat resembling a bandage. Sexual dimorphism is weakly expressed, females are only slightly larger than males, which is especially noticeable during the spawning period.
