Character
The country of origin of the Ceylon cat is Italy. However, the name of the breed speaks for itself: this cat comes from the distant island of Ceylon, which today is called Sri Lanka. The ancestors of the Ceylon cat came to Italy with a breeder named Paolo Pelegatta. He liked the animals on the island so much that he decided to take a few representatives with him to his homeland. As he bred, he, along with like-minded people, corrected some features and thus created a new breed.
Ceylon cats are incredibly active. These muscular small pets are very energetic and can rarely stay in one place for a long time. They love all kinds of games, so they will be happy with a variety of toys in the house.
Cats of this breed quickly and permanently become attached to their owner. They love affection, attention and care. It is not recommended to start a Ceylon cat for people who spend most of their time at work.
Breeders claim that these animals are very sociable. They are not afraid of strangers, and if they show interest, then the cat will most likely make contact.
Behaviour
Interestingly, Ceylon cats are very curious. They will probably explore all the corners in the house, climb into all the cabinets and check all the shelves. However, they are very obedient pets. If the owner scolds the cat for a misconduct, it will not take revenge and, most likely, will not repeat this again.
Ceylon cats get along well with other pets, as long as they have their own place. With children, these animals also easily find a common language, because the game is one of their favorite activities.
Care
Ceylon cats have fairly thick short hair. To ensure cleanliness in the house during the molting period, it is recommended to comb the cat every two to three days with a massage mitt or comb.
It is necessary to pay attention to the eyes, claws and oral cavity of the pet. To make the process go smoothly, accustom the cat to the cleaning and examination procedures from an early age. It is especially important to cut the claws and brush the pet’s teeth on time in order to keep them in excellent condition for a long time.
Conditions of detention
Ceylon cats love having space to play. Therefore, even in a city apartment, they will surely find a place where they can arrange a race. This should be taken into account if you want to keep order in the apartment.
The breed is considered quite healthy, however, some cats have a tendency to develop colds. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the nose of the Ceylon cat is shorter than that of representatives of other breeds. In addition, owners should be careful when bathing the animal and not allow the cat to be in a draft for a long time or get cold.
One of the most important points is the nutrition of the cat. Proven brands of food should be selected on the advice of the breeder or veterinarian. You should always follow the recommendations on the feeding regimen and portion sizes to avoid the development of obesity in your pet.
