Catfish Panda

Catfish Panda or Corydoras Panda (Corey Panda), scientific name Corydoras panda, belongs to the Callichthyidae family. This species is native to the foothills of the Andes in the upper Amazon basin. The water conditions are characterized by sandy substrates and soft water, during the snowmelt period the water becomes very soft and the temperature drops to 19°C. However, there is no need to maintain such cycles in the home aquarium, since the fish on sale are mainly specimens of fish that have been raised for many generations in the artificial environment of commercial aquariums.

Description

Adults reach a length of about 4 cm, while their wild relatives can grow up to 5., but even this does not make them large in comparison with other species. The catfish Panda got its name due to the similarity in coloring with the Big Panda bear. There are two large dark spots in the drawing – on the head and at the base of the tail and a small dark pigment on the dorsal fin, while the body itself is completely white. Sexual dimorphism is weakly expressed, it is rather difficult to distinguish a female from a male, only during the spawning period she swells somewhat from caviar.
