Can you flush cat litter down the toilet?
In fact, it all depends on the material from which the filler is made. All types of fillers can be divided into the following:
silica gel;
woody;
Mineral;
Paper;
Vegetable (corn, etc.).
Silica gel fillers do not dissolve in water, so they should never be flushed down the toilet.
Wood and mineral fillers can only be thrown into the sewer in very small quantities, because wood pellets may not get wet, and the bentonite clay, from which mineral fillers are usually made, quickly absorbs moisture and turns into a lump – as a result, both of these fillers can cause clogging. Therefore, only a very small amount of such fillers can be flushed into the toilet, but definitely not the contents of the entire tray.
Paper fillers are easily disposed of in the toilet, therefore they are considered one of the most environmentally friendly and safe.
Vegetable fillers also will not cause problems with sewage, if you do not immediately throw the entire contents of the tray into the toilet.
It is also worth paying attention to the information that is indicated on the packaging – some may indicate that the filler can be flushed down the toilet.
