Maintenance and care, arrangement of the aquarium
For a flock of 5-6 individuals, an aquarium of 200 liters or more is required. The main condition for registration is to provide large free areas for swimming in the middle and upper layers of water. Covers are welcome. It can be a variety of snags and clusters of plants. The latter should be trimmed and thinned out regularly to prevent overgrowth.
Being native to relatively cool latitudes, the Blackfin Markiana is able to live at temperatures as low as 20°C, so it is often not necessary to install a heater in the aquarium.
It is recommended to recreate moderate flow conditions and ensure high levels of dissolved oxygen in the water by placing additional aerator pebbles.
Food
It is considered a rather voracious species, which, coupled with its mobility, makes this fish the main competitor for food resources. Will accept most popular dry, frozen and live foods.
Behavior and Compatibility
A peaceful species, but its activity can be a problem for slow fish, which is especially evident during feeding. Compatible with illogical in size and temperament species from among other characins, catfish, as well as American cichlids, such as geophagus, cichlomas.
