biotope aquarium
biotope aquarium is an aquarium in which we keep fish in conditions as close as possible to their habitat.
In such an aquarium, the main thing is fish. It should be spectacular and interesting in terms of behavior. For example, cichlids are often used. They have a certain level of intelligence, protect the territory, show mating games, breed, build a hierarchy, recognize the one who feeds them, and try to drive strangers away from the glass. This is interesting to watch. Such an aquarium, as a rule, is bright, rich, beautiful, but plastic parts should not be used.
But it is worth considering the conditions in which the fish lives in nature. For example, if she lives on a rocky bottom, the aquarium should have a rocky bottom, but the fish should be bright, and there should be a lot of them – then nothing will distract attention from the fish. There is a nuance that needs to be taken into account. Brightly colored fish in an aquarium with brightly colored details often hide and refuse to breed. Therefore, aquarium decorations should be as modest as possible.
Consider the size of the biotope aquarium. If you run several large fish into a small container, they will feel bad and may even kill each other. 250 liters is quite a normal volume for an apartment, but in this case the fish must be selected carefully. Look not only at the appearance. A fish may be gray and nondescript, but it can have very interesting behaviors, such as courtship rituals, building a hierarchy, etc., and this is very exciting to watch. And a flock of small fish can be no less interesting than a big bright fish swimming alone.
