Bacopa “Short”
Bacopa monnieri ‘Short’, scientific name Bacopa monnieri ‘Compact’, is a variety of the common Bacopa monnieri. Sometimes there is such a name as Bacopa Monnieri of the second type (Bacopa monnieri Type II). There is no exact information and time of origin of this variety. It does not occur in nature, because it has an artificial passage.
A characteristic feature of this variety is the size of the plant and the shape of the leaves. The stem is relatively short, only 10-15 cm, the leaves are elongated – narrow at the base and wide at the end. The root system is well developed and covers the upper part of the substrate. Sometimes you can see white roots extending straight from the stem.
Bacopa Monnieri “Low-growing” is unpretentious and able to grow in various conditions, including brackish water. It can grow both under water and in the humid environment of paludariums, but it still looks most beneficial in aquariums. Reproduction of the plant occurs by cutting the stem and planting the separated fragment in the ground, or in a natural way through side shoots. In favorable conditions, many new sprouts are formed, located in the vicinity of the mother plant, thereby resulting in fairly dense clusters.
