Bacopa of Madagascar

Bacopa Madagascar, scientific name Bacopa madagascariensis. As the name implies, the plant comes from the island of Madagascar near Africa, where it grows in swamps, backwaters of rivers and other bodies of water with stagnant water or a weak current. In nature, it is adjacent to another plant known in the aquarium hobby, Aponogeton of Madagascar.

Outwardly, it resembles Bacopa Caroline, being a related species, although growing on a different continent. It grows up to 15 cm in height, which allows it to be used in nano aquariums. The plant has oval leaves. bright green flowers, relatively small, no more than 3 cm. In the surface position, it can bloom. Flowers are like bells white-violet color.

The optimal conditions for growth are: very soft and slightly acidic water, sand and clay soil, high or medium light levels. With a lack of light, the leaves will begin to die. In general, Bacopa Madagascar requires attention, so it can hardly be recommended to a novice aquarist.
