Stargazer (Celestial Eye Goldfish – English) or Celestial Eye has an original structure of eyes that protrude significantly on the sides of the head, while the eyes themselves are fixed in the upper position. Formation of the species took place in several stages. In the 19th century, a goldfish with protruding eyes, the Telescope, was bred in China. Further, at the beginning of the 20th century, selection was continued in Japan, and as a result, the position of the eyes was changed to the current state.
The body of the fish is short, egg-shaped. Caudal and anal fins have a clear division into two parts. The main distinguishing feature is the eyes, and at a young age they have a natural appearance, and with age they undergo changes. The fish is available in several colors: orange, black, gray and others.
A similar structure of the eyes imposes restrictions on the content and the choice of neighbors. Stargazer requires careful care, objects with sharp and protruding edges should not be used in decoration, due to poor eyesight, he can collide with them and damage his eyes. Representatives of the same species and Water Eyes are recommended as neighbors. Anything else can pose a health hazard to the fish.
