apalantus granada

Apalanthus Granada, the scientific name is Apalanthe granatensis. Widely distributed in tropical South America. It grows in well-heated and illuminated temporary reservoirs and swamps with loamy silty soils.

Formerly known as Eledea of Granada. The plant was discovered and described in 1813 by the naturalists Humboldt and Bonpland in present-day Colombia, which at that time was called New Granada.

Apalanthus granada has a long stem from which thin pointed leaves grow only a couple of millimeters wide and 2 cm long. The edges of the leaf have tiny notches, although they are almost imperceptible to the naked eye. It grows completely submerged in water and floats near the surface. On petioles rising above the surface, white three-leafed flowers are formed.

It is considered a relatively unpretentious plant that can successfully adapt to various conditions (water hardness and acidity, lighting level). The only thing you need to pay attention to is the temperature, which should not fall below 22 degrees.
