Anubias hastifolia
Anubias hastifolia or Anubias spear-shaped, scientific name Anubias hastifolia. Occurs from the territory of West and Central Africa (Ghana and the Democratic Republic of the Congo), grows in shady places of rivers and streams flowing under the canopy of the tropical forest.
On sale, this plant is often sold under other names, for example, Anubias various-leaved or Anubias giant, which in turn belong to independent species. The thing is that they are almost identical, so many sellers do not consider it a mistake to use different names.
Anubias hastifolia has a creeping rhizome 1.5 cm thick. The leaf is elongated, elliptical in shape with a pointed tip, two processes are located at the junction with the petiole (only in an adult plant). The shape of the leaves with a long petiole (up to 63 cm) vaguely resembles a spear, which is reflected in one of the colloquial names of this species. The plant has a large size and does not grow well completely submerged in water, therefore it has found application in spacious paludariums and is much less common in an aquarium. It is considered undemanding and easy to care for.
