Antioxidants in pet food
Quite often, in the list of advantages of a particular food line, you can find antioxidants in the composition. What are antioxidants, what is their effect and how useful are they for the body?
Antioxidants (also called antioxidants or antioxidants) are substances that neutralize the effects of free radicals, which is necessary for maintaining good health.
Free radicals are formed as a result of the negative impact of external factors on the body, and also as a by-product in the metabolic process. They have a destructive effect on cells and especially hit the nervous and immune systems. Doctors often associate the development of diseases and premature signs of age with the action of free radicals.
In order not to put your pet’s health at risk, appropriate prevention is necessary. In this case, it is the choice of food with antioxidants that will protect cells from the negative effects of free radicals.
Interestingly, a certain amount of antioxidants is naturally produced in the body as a waste product. But for an effective fight against free radicals, it is very important that antioxidants enter the body as nutrients, i.e. along with food. Thus, each cell of the body will be under double protection: provided by the body and reinforced by nutritious food – and the likelihood of cell destruction by free radicals will be minimized.
Antioxidants in pet food are, first of all, vitamins E and C. As well as sodium selenite (selenium) as an antioxidant-anti-radical system. It is this complex of antioxidants that is used, for example, in Monge feeds to strengthen the protective barrier of body cells.
When choosing a diet for your pet, be sure to pay attention to these components.
