Crazy Lori (USSR, 1991)
English veterinarian Andrew MacDewey became very withdrawn and even cruel after the death of his wife. The only creature he loves is his little daughter Mary. But when Mary’s favorite cat Thomasina falls ill, McDewey flatly refuses to treat her and puts her to sleep. However, this seems to be the only method of treating animals that he has been practicing lately. Lori McGregor, who is considered by many locals to be a crazy sorceress, is instead engaged in saving animals. She saves the unfortunate Thomasina. It was Lori and Thomasina who managed to awaken in Mr. McDewey the understanding that he unwittingly hurt the most dear people, and the desire to change. Which means everything will end well.
Three Lives of Thomasina / The Three Lives of Thomasina (USA, 1964)
This film, like Crazy Lori, is based on the book Thomasina by American writer Paul Gallico. But the Walt Disney studio offered its own vision of this wonderful story. Thomasina the cat here is the main character of the story about how you can lose and find your family again, revive your own soul and believe in the best again. By the way, Paul Gallico, the author of the book, lived more than 20 cats!
A Street Cat Named Bob (UK, 2016)
Street musician James Bowen can not be called lucky: he lives on the street and “dabbles” in drugs. Social worker Val tries to help him: he seeks the allocation of social housing and helps to overcome drug addiction. One day, James discovers a ginger cat in the kitchen of his new home. Attempts to find the owners of fluffy or get rid of him are unsuccessful: the cat returns again and again. One day, the cat gets sick, and taking care of him changes James’ attitude to life. The cat helps the musician become popular, sets him up with a wonderful girl and helps to improve the relationship between James and his father. The film is based on the book of the same name by James Bowen. Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge attended the premiere in London. In 2017, the film won the UK National Award for Best British Film.

Here Comes the Cat / Až přijde kocour (Czechoslovakia, 1963)
This amazing story is like a fairy tale. The small provincial town is mired in hypocrisy and bureaucracy. But everything changes when itinerant artists arrive, accompanied by a cat in dark glasses. When the performance ends, the magician’s assistant Diana takes off her glasses from the cat, and all people become multi-colored: crooks – gray, liars – purple, lovers – red, traitors – yellow, etc. And then the cat gets lost, and the city is in turmoil. This is a fantastic story that the boundaries between fiction and reality can become very shaky, and one wants to believe in the victory of good, no matter what. And who knows – perhaps a miracle awaits us around the next corner …
