Funny Syrian and Djungarian hamsters do not live very long by our human standards, but even during this time I manage to get sick with my hamster diseases or get into unpleasant situations. What should I do if my hamster is bleeding from the anus? Why does a hamster bleed from the anus

  • Insufficient care. With frequent hypothermia of a pet in a draft or in a cold room, inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system develop;
  • Wrong feeding. Excessive consumption of protein foods in rodents has a detrimental effect on kidney function;
  • Chronic diseases and cysts of the urinary tract in the elderly;
  • Infectious, viral and rickettsion diseases of the genitourinary system;
  • Urolithiasis as a result of monotonous feeding with dry food;
  • Leptospirosis and choriomeningitis;

Diabetes

In diseases of the genitourinary system, the hamster often pees with thick, cloudy urine mixed with blood; when urinating, it arches its back and squeaks. The fluffy baby refuses to eat, often drinks, sleeps a lot and is not active. Dzhungars are the most susceptible to diabetes. In this situation, it is necessary to collect the pet’s urine in a sterile container with a disposable syringe and urgently deliver the analysis and the sick animal to the veterinary clinic for the fastest possible treatment.
