Shrimp golden crystal

Shrimp golden crystal, English trade name Golden bee Shrimp. It is an artificially bred variety of the Caridina logemanni shrimp (the old name is Caridina cf. Cantonensis), which is better known as Crystal Shrimp in the post-Soviet countries.

It is not known for certain how this variety was obtained (a commercial secret of nurseries), but the Black Crystal and Red Crystal shrimp can be safely attributed to its closest relatives.

Description

Adults reach a length of about 3 cm. Despite its name, the chitinous shell is not golden, but white. However, it is heterogeneous, in some places porous, translucent, and orange inner covers of the body “shine through” through it. Thus, a characteristic golden hue is formed.

Maintenance and care

Unlike other freshwater shrimp, such as Neocaridina, the Golden Crystal Shrimp is more sensitive to water quality. It is recommended to maintain a mild slightly acidic hydrochemical composition. You can not neglect the mandatory procedures – the weekly replacement of part of the water with fresh water and the removal of organic waste. The filtration system must be productive, but at the same time not cause excessive movement of water.

Optimal conditions of detention

General hardness – 4–20°dGH

Carbonate hardness – 0–6°dKH

Value pH — 6,0–7,5

Temperature – 16-29°C (comfortable 18-25°C)
