Physical injury

Fish can be physically injured (open wounds, scratches, torn fins, etc.) from being attacked by neighbors or from sharp edges in aquarium decorations.

In the latter case, you should carefully inspect all items and remove / replace those that pose a potential hazard.

As for injuries caused by the aggressive behavior of other fish, the solution to the problem depends on the specific case. Fish are usually acquired at a young age, and during this period of life different species are very friendly to each other. However, as they mature, behavior will change, especially during the breeding season.

Carefully read the recommendations on the content and behavior of a particular species in the “Aquarium fish” section and take the necessary measures.

Treatment:

Open wounds should be treated with greenery diluted in water, the dosage per 100 ml is 10 drops of greenery. The fish must be carefully caught and lubricated at the edges. It is recommended to keep the fish in a quarantine tank for the entire recovery period.

Minor wounds heal on their own, but the process can be sped up by making the water slightly slightly acidic (pH around 6.6). This method is suitable only for those species that tolerate slightly acidic water.
