Karattru

Barbet is an ancient breed, the first mention of which, according to researchers, dates back to the 14th century. Books and paintings of the time often described rough-haired dogs that could swim. The breed was finally formed and recognized in the 19th century, at the same time a club of lovers of these animals was founded. Interestingly, dogs were used not only by hunters in their business, but also by sailors who went to sea.

During the First and Second World Wars, the number of barbets was greatly reduced, and the breed was on the verge of extinction. The French restored it in the 1980s. Incidentally, the French Water Dog is the ancestor of many breeds, including the Poodle , the Newfoundland , and many other water dogs.

Barbet is an active, cheerful and friendly dog. She is glad to meet new people, loves her family and is happy to be in the center of everyone’s attention. But without proper upbringing, the pet quickly becomes uncontrollable, especially if in childhood the owner inattentively followed the behavior of the pet.

By the way, raising a barbet is not so easy. On the one hand, these are extremely smart and quick-witted dogs, but on the other hand, they are also very stubborn and wayward. If a representative of the breed does not like the exercise or method of training, success can not be expected. The dog will in every possible way refuse classes and disrupt them. So the owner must be patient. If there is no confidence in the forces, it is better to immediately contact the cynologist. Retraining a dog is more difficult.

Imġieba

Despite the openness and sociability, the barbet is a good guard. He will protect his family and his property well from uninvited guests.

It is believed that the barbet is a good choice for a school-age child. But we must understand that the child will not be able to raise a dog. But together they will surely spend a lot of time playing and having fun.

Barbet gets along quite peacefully with animals in the house. True, due to the developed hunting instincts, the dog can react negatively to birds and small rodents. As for cats, a lot depends on the individual animals: calm and peaceful pets will certainly get along.

Kura Barbet

The advantage of the barbet is its curly coat, which will require careful care from the owner. The dog needs to be brushed almost every day. Otherwise, it is impossible to avoid the appearance of tangles, which are quite difficult to get rid of.

Particular attention should be paid to the cleanliness and hygiene of the barbet’s ears. They are at risk of developing infections.

Kondizzjonijiet ta 'detenzjoni

Barbet needs active walks at least two to three times a day. Dogs of this breed tend to be overweight, so the owner must monitor the nutrition of the pet. Choose food according to the recommendations of the veterinarian and breeder.
