- With a pronounced hunting instinct;
Unfortunately, information about the progenitors of the Arierge Braccoi has been largely lost. Cynologists suggest that French breeders of the 19th century bred these animals by crossing Spanish and Italian braccos, the presence of Toulouse blood is also possible (a breed that has become extinct to this day), French Bracco and blue gascon hound.
In France, the Arriège Braque was recognized as a breed in 1860. As is often the case, the breed was named after the name of the area where it was bred. During the Second World War, there was no time for breeding hunting dogs, and after it ended, it turned out that there were practically none left. In 1988, French cynologists “put on the wanted list” the last representatives of the breed and since 1990 began to restore the livestock of these wonderful animals that retained the type of white royal dogs, crossing them with Saint Germain and French Bracques. In 1998, the Arriège Braccoi recognized the IFF.
Powerful, fairly large, athletic dog. Larger and heavier than standard French Hounds. The Arierge Bracques have long ears folded into a fold, a dewlap on the neck, and there is a hook-nosed nose. The tail is set low, it is docked at half the length. The coat is short, close-lying, shiny. The color is usually white-red with spots or specks, red in various shades, there are chestnut dogs with dark spots and specks.
These dogs were bred specifically for hunting in rough terrain. In addition to the typical qualities hunting dogs – passion, courage, endurance – Ariège bracci are distinguished by physical strength, special tirelessness in pursuing prey and readiness to bring it to the owner intact. Experts note their independence in hunting – the dogs competently take the initiative, they can run far enough for the prey, but they always return to deliver it to the owner.
With Arriège bracques they go hunting for hares, quails, partridges and other medium-sized game.
Also, if you wish, you can bring up a good guard and watchman from representatives of this breed.
Difficulties in education creates an independent nature of the dog. The owner will need both patience and perseverance in order to qualitativelyգնացքan animal that may not immediately recognize his authority.
Brakki get along well with the children and household of the owner, they usually treat other pets condescendingly. But still, it’s better not to risk it – the percentage of cases when the hunting instinct suddenly wakes up in a dog is quite large.
